Q: If I want a long term use screen printed banner, what fabric should I choose?
A: The biggest market share for awning/boat canvas used for banners is claimed by three US manufactures…(Avenue) Astrup, Sunbrella (Glen Raven Mills) and Main Street (John Boyle & Co.). They merged and call themselves Tri-vantage. We like Main Street because not only is the fabric UV resistant, the inks we put on the fabric are UV resistant, too! Banner companies that use Sunbrella are mostly using T-shirt inks…good in the washer, not so good about UV break down. As such, reds turn pink and yellow wash out. For long term use, we like Main Street awning/boat canvas. Not as pores (stays cleaner longer) and does not shrink during manufacturing.
